CERAMICS

Ceramics can be broken down into 2 distinct stages.

The first part is HAND BUILDING where you transform a lump of clay to an object of art.
The second part is GLAZING where you get to colour your creations.

I hold Ceramic workshops specifically for
Hand Building; Glazing and a Combination workshop of Hand building and Glazing.

HAND BUILDING workshop

In this clay workshop is where the ceramic journey begins.  You will receive a Iump of clay, and I will show you various techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab construction, scoring and carving for you to create your unique object d'art.

At the end of this session, your creation will be left in the studio for drying and then a bisque firing in my kiln.  I will contact you in 1-3 weeks for you to collect your ceramic treasures.

COST ... includes for tuition and guidance, clay and use tools, plus 1 kiln firing.

  • 1 hour, $40 which I find is plenty long enough for kids or perfect for small projects.

GLAZING workshop

This is a workshop where you become the artist and colour an object that I have in my studio, such as a bowl, plate, platter, mug, beads, coaters etc. Extra shapes may be purchased on the day.

I will explain the technique for applying these specially formulated underglazes and glazes, and once kiln fired your creations will have a glass like finish, the colours will not be affected by sun and they will be food safe.

After this workshop, you will leave your creations with me to dry and kiln fire.  I will contact you in about 1-3 weeks for you to collect your treasures.
